Yala National Park

Yala national park is the second largest national park in Sri lanka.Yala was designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900. There are five block in yala national park but for visitors can visit only in two block (block one and block two).  Yala national park situate in Uva province and South province. Yala national park locate 300 Km from colombo. this park cover 979 square Km. The park is situated in dry semi-arid climatic region and rain is received mainly during the northeast monsoon.This park is best know for it's variety of wild animals Elephants, birds, bears, leopard as well. Including sri lankan elephants, 44 species of mammas residence in yala national park and it has one of the highest leopard densities in the world. Yala is a one of important bird area in sri lanaka. Yala harbours  215 bird species including endemic  spices of sri lanka.
